CALNE Skate Bowl has been host to demonstrations, lessons and competitions this school break, after the popularity of last year's summer series.

The town council organised the packed schedule in association with ATBShop Skate Warehouse, who have run the sessions for free, thanks to sponsorship from sponsors GreenSquare, The Hills Group and the Calne Area Board.

More than 70 children attended the most recent event on Tuesday, proving this year's success.

ATBShop said: “With more than70 people attending, yesterdays event was the biggest yet! We absolutely love seeing the community come together, we were offering demos, prizes and inductions to all the children involved. We are super excited for the coming events Tuesday 27th and Thursday 29th. It gives everyone a chance to see the incredible talent that local skate parks can produce and hopefully inspire all. We also offer free hire of scooters, skateboards and helmets, to ensure everyone can get involved."

Cllr Robert MacNaughton, who played a key role in organising the sessions, said: “Tuesday’s Summer Skate Series event was the biggest we have ever hosted. The ATB shop crew and they said they had never organised competitions and prizes for so many riders. There are two events next week on Tuesday and Thursday. The weather is forecast to be fine so please come along again to make the Summer Skate Series a great success.”

The Calne Summer Skate events return for the final sessions on Tuesday 27th August and on Thursday 29th August, as a replacement date due to the poor weather earlier in the month.

Both events run from 2pm-5pm at Calne Skate Bowl and participation is free for everyone of all ages to take part.
