A five-year-old girl used her first ever haircut to give to a charity that helps those who lose their hair through illness.

Luna Morgan, from Calne, decided to put her first snip, at Salon XVIII, to good use by donating 14.5 inches of her blonde locks to the Little Princess Trust.

As well as donating the hair itself, Luna has also managed to raise over £200 for the charity.

Sponsorships have come from local businesses, an online crowd funding page, donations from Facebook and even customers in the salon who wanted to contribute.

Luna’s mother, Kirsty Morgan, said it was ‘absolutely amazing’ what her daughter has done to help patients suffering hair loss.

She said: “She was so nervous to have her haircut, as it was her first time.

“We decided it was time she got her hair cut, and she said she really wanted a bob.

"She thought it would be nice to donate her hair to others who need it more.

“Her hair was so long that 14.5 inches were cut off!

“I was also amazed how many people got involved in sponsoring Luna."

The Little Princess Trust provides wigs, made from real hair, to children and young adults up to the age of 24who have lost their hair through illness, or treatment.

As well as this, the charity also funds 'pioneering and life-saving' research into childhood cancers.
