PROLIFIC burglar Timothy Cooper has been sentenced to 18 weeks in prison after preying on the kindness of staff in the Potterne village store.
Cooper, 36, of The Butts, Potterne, near Devizes, went into the shop on August 4 and asked for his water bottle to be refilled and whilst they were distracted he helped himself to scratch cards and tobacco.
He took his refilled water bottle and left with approximately £160 of stock.
Sergeant Tracey Holloway said: "Cooper was already on licence when he committed this burglary and is a prolific offender, well known in the community. We are content that this resulted in a prison sentence are are committed to targeting these repeat offenders."
