A MOTORCYCLIST has been taken to hospital after a crash in Birkenhead.

Emergency services were called to the junction of Hoylake Road and Worcester Road at around 12.15pm today (Monday, August 12) following reports of a crash between a blue Skoda Fabia and a red Yamaha Tracer with two males on board.

A motorcyclist, a man in his 30s, has been taken to hospital with serious head and leg injuries.

The pillion passenger was unhurt.

The driver and passenger of the Skoda car received treatment for minor injuries by paramedics at the scene.

Road closures are currently in place while an investigation is conducted and drivers are urged to avoid the area.

Detectives are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
