A GROUP of pals have completed an emotional challenge of a lifetime by cycling 906 miles in just nine days in memory of Paul Lavelle.
Teaming up with Mersey Tri4life, the determined group set off from Lands End to John O'Groats on August 2 to raise awareness of domestic abuse in Paul's name and raise cash for both Claire House Children's Hospice and The Paul Lavelle Foundation.
Paul, 50, from Rock Ferry was killed by his girlfriend Sarah Lewis after she attacked him with a broken dinner plate in May 2017.
Lewis was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter.
Paul's friends decided to honour his memory by setting up The Paul Lavelle Foundation in a bid to raise awareness of domestic abuse against men and help others.
They have now opened a new hub at Royal Standard House in Rock Ferry to offer services for men who are suffering domestic abuse and act as a base for future events from the charity.

Now the team have completed the huge challenge and have so far raised £15,777.51 of their £20,000 target.
Keeping friends and family updated along the way via the Paul Lavelle Foundation Facebook page, the team said: "Thanks to everyone on here and social media for your support and donations, thanks to our friends, to our families for months of help, support and love.
"We went on many missions both as a team and solo in our minds but the main goal was our mate.
"We think we smashed it for him."
