A WEEK after police were called to a downed glider west of Swindon, officers were back at the scene of another aircraft landing.
Royal Wootton Bassett police said on Facebook that officers had been returning from a job in Purton when they spotted “something that didn’t look quite right” in a field opposite the Marsh Farm Hotel, between Hook and Wootton Bassett.

The unexpected visitor was a white-and-orange glider.
“Officers have spoken to the landowner, who is aware that they have a parking visitor,” police said.
“All involved are okay and the glider will be recovered by the owner as soon as possible.”
Last weekend, officers were called to reports of a glider forced to make an emergency landing in a field off Whitehill Way, Royal Wootton Bassett. The weather had turned and the thermal air currents keeping it flying had disappeared.
