HOUSING for key workers is set to be created throughout the county through by using council owned land to build new homes through a new development company.
Wiltshire Council also plans to buy up to 50 houses a year by setting up an independent housing company to provide homes for people on the housing register including care leavers and key workers such as teachers, nursery staff and NHS workers. The housing company has been given a £50m loan by Wiltshire Council to find the extra housing.
Richard Clewer, cabinet member for housing said: “100 years after the drive to build council homes was launched in the UK we continue to provide new approaches to help us meet the housing needs of our residents.”
