SCHOOL lover Joey Doughty has set a record that is going to take some beating.
In his seven years as a pupil at Preshute Primary in Marlborough he did not miss a single day.
He started on September 4, 2012 and left to go to senior school this summer.
At the primary school’s Year 6 leavers service held at St George’s Church he was presented with an original water colour by local artist Becky Borthwick by head teacher Neil Baker and Year 6 teacher Hannah Hawkings.
Mr Baker said: “In all my years of Headship, I’ve never had anyone who has never had a day’s absence in their entire primary career.”.
Joey said: “I’m proud of what I’ve done, but there have been days where I’ve wanted to stay in bed, but I’ve just had to get up as my mum wouldn’t let me sleep in.”
His mum Emma said “Thankfully Joey is a very robust child so hasn’t had to take time off due to illness. His dad and I are incredibly proud of his amazing achievement.”
He is now moving on to St John’s, Marlborough.
