THREE people have been arrested in Calne today after approximately £5,000 worth of suspected Class A drugs was located.
Police received a call from a member of the public at around 7.40am reporting concerns regarding a suspicious vehicle in The Green.
Officers from the Dedicated Crime Team attended the area and detained two people, a 21-year-old local woman and a 35-year-old man from London, under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
Both were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs (heroin and crack cocaine) and the 35-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of assaulting an officer.
A third person – a 22-year-old man from London - was arrested at a nearby address on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs.
PC Tim Stevens said: “This is a good example of the pivotal role members of the public can play in helping us tackle drug supply in our communities.
“Having received information from the public regarding a suspicious vehicle, we attended the scene and arrested three individuals.
"Not only that, but we have also recovered approximately £5,000 worth of suspected Class A drugs, three knives and £3,500 cash from an address.”
All three have been taken to Melksham custody for further questioning.
