THE body of a woman was found in the canal in Devizes at the Caen Hill flight of locks this morning.
Police, fire and ambulance were called to the canal near Lock 29 at 5.30am today.
A police spokesman said: "The body of a woman had been found in the water. All three emergency services attended but sadly nothing could be done for her.
"Enquiries are ongoing but we do not believe that there are any suspicious circumstances at this stage. We are in the process of informing her family and our thoughts are with them."
