SHARP-EYED viewers who watched the BBC's Poldark on July 21 may have noticed a familiar setting.

Bowood House and Gardens was used to represent Hyde Park, London, in the hit TV show.

The parkland, designed by Capability Brown was caught in its autumnal glory, as most of the scene was shot around the lake.

Four days of filming took place at Bowood last October in a roped-off area well away from the visiting public – although many were fascinated by the activity they could see in the distance.

Since Sunday, Poldark fans have posted on social media that they had recognised the location .

The five scenes shot at Bowood included Ross, played by Aidan Turner, Demelza, played by Eleanor Tomlinson, and many other characters playing and romancing on the lake's edge.

The historic estate's 2,000 acres were a suitable backdrop for Geoffrey Charles Poldark as he woos Cecily Hanson by the edge of the lake and in front of the Doric Temple, which many viewers recognised.

This is the second year that Bowood appears in Poldark, following last year's intense and dramatic lakeside duel.
