BRITISH Transport Police are investigating after a man died on the railway line at Lydeway, near Devizes on Sunday afternoon.

A number of Wiltshire police vehicles and other emergency services were called to the track near the Clock Inn.

A spokesman for BTP said: “Officers were called to the line in Lydeway at 16.12pm on Sunday following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Paramedics also attended but sadly a 38-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious but a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Great Western Railway issued a warning about serious delays.
