After months of planning and preparation Llandrindod Wells Town Council was proud to open the new Princes Avenue Leisure Park on Sunday afternoon.

Mayor of Llandrindod Wells, Cllr Steve Deeks-D’Silva officially declared the park open by cutting a ribbon and unveiling a sign bearing the new name, along with members of the Town Council and County Cllr Rosemarie Harris, Leader of Powys County Council.

The park, formerly the putting green, has been transformed to provide family friendly fun for all ages.

The Mayor thanked all the sponsors for their generous contributions which made this amazing community facility for the residents of the town possible. Sponsors included Tesco Bags of Help, Powys County Council and Lottery Awards for All.

He thanked the Deputy Mayor, Cllr Allan Curtis for being the overall project manager for the venture and seeing it through from design to completion by local contractors. All of the members of the Town Council and the town clerk were thanked for their hard work.

Cllr Deeks-D’Silva added: “The last four months have been amazing, the team spirit within the Town Council and their dedication to build and develop this amazing leisure space has been at the forefront of our work. We are delighted with the results and hope Llandrindod Wells residents will get many years of pleasure and enjoyment from the Park.

“It was great to see so many families come along today.”

County Times:
