MORE than £1,200 has been raised for Wiltshire Air Ambulance and other charities by a group who took part in the 100-kilometre Race to the Stones last weekend.
Sam Gooding, Tim Bruton, Joni Veale, Jen Hale and Zoe Pike all ran, jogged and walked the 62-miles from Lewknor in the Chilterns along Britain's oldest path, The Ridgeway, to the historic Avebury Stone Circle on the North Wessex Downs.
They all train at D J Hussey's gym, New Era Fitness, at Bowerhill, Melksham, and completed the route in around 16 hours.
Mr Gooding, 41, a director of Gooding Accounts in Westbury, said: "We all live on the Paxcroft Mead estate at Trowbridge and train together.
"I have so far managed to raise over £1,200 for Wiltshire Air Ambulance through completing the event."
He chose the charity in memory of Lucy Beer, from Warminster, who was tragically killed in a crash on the A36 at Heytesbury in January. Her mother, Angela Beer, works for his company.
