A mum has hailed medics who saved her daughter after drugs taken at TRNSMT Festival left her fighting for her life.

The 16-year-old was left in a critical condition after taking drugs at the Glasgow Green show on Friday.

She fell unwell and was taken to the on-site medical tent by concerned friends, and was quickly transferred to the nearby hospital.

Medics at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital rushed to save the 16-year-old, and it is understood she was placed in a medically-induced coma.

Her mother has now said she feels 'really lucky' that her daughter is still with her - and has thanked the medical staff who saved her life.

"The medical attention she received at the festival saved her life - it was amazing," she told The Evening Telegraph.

"They treated her straight away, and I have no doubt the quick work they did there saved her.

"I am just really grateful that there was that kind of support available on the site of the festival."

She added: "I feel really lucky that she is still here."

The concerned mum also paid tribute to her daughter's friends, who initially noticed something was not quite right and took her to the site's medical tent.

She said: "Her friends did the right thing by taking her to the medical tent when they did."

It is understood the girl is recovering well in hospital and is expected to be released later this week.
