ARTISTIC excellence has continued this school year for Pewsey Vale School with another successful exhibition of the work of the students.

The latest show was held last week at the Pewsey Vale Community Hub Cafe where students exhibited work as part of the school's e-twinning project in what the school called an International exhibition of artwork and audio.

Caroline Dalrymple who visited the show said it showed an astonishing level of creative from students who she referred to as the Vale of Pewsey's "bright young things."

She said: "The exhibition was very modern and extremely interesting.

"It showed how Nina has really engaged with the students and brought out their creativity to an astonishing level of accomplishment.

"I was impressed by the combinations of colours and how the students had really filled their canvasses with so many ideas.

"The school has again showed the high level of original thinking amongst the art students.

"We often think of the vale as being a rather sleepy part of the world and also in terms of jobs very deprived but this exhibition reveals there are a lot of really active minds at work."

Head of art at the school Nina Slater said: "We invited parents of the students whose work was on display to see their work.

"Although it is not as large as the GCSE exhibition, it is the first E-Twinning project we have done as a school, linking to partner school in Assens, Denmark.

"We will be applying for a National Quality Label for this project, and I believe we are one of only a few schools in Wiltshire to be a part of the E-Twinning international network."

The exhibition held on July 2, follows on from the GCSE show held in the school's art department that featured portraiture, pencil illustrations, collage, sculpture and textile designs.

Mrs Slater said: "Alongside their curriculums, students also gain an understanding of working as an Artist, experiencing artwork in a gallery or museum setting, and curate their own exhibition spaces.

"Our students also chose to pursue art at a-level, and beyond.

"Pewsey Vale School provides a supportive and challenging learning environment where all students are empowered to succeed. We are passionate about ensuring that your child has access to the best opportunities which will help them achieve and prepare them for their future.

"Our school community works together to ensure that all students reach their full potential in their academic and personal development.

"Our recent successes include exhibiting at The House of Commons, student selection for catalogue publication, collaborative work with St Francis, Pewsey as well as Pewsey Primary, and our ongoing international link with Danish and Finnish schools through E-Twinning."
