DARCY Bussell of Strictly Come Dancing fame announced the dancers of St Katharine’s School Savernake as the winners of the regional final of the Diverse Dance Mix (DDMIX) dance fitness competition.

The dance offs were held in the grounds of Salisbury Cathedral on Friday, May 31, when seven school dance groups competed for the trophy.

Chestnut Class from the school led by teacher Claire Arnold performed an Arabic themed dance sequence.

Darcy Bussell said that her decision was based on the level of energy, enthusiasm and effort that the children put into their performance and that their smiles didn’t once leave their faces throughout.

The school's principal Niki Jones said: "We are extremely proud of them. The children received a glass trophy as a prize."
