BUILDING work has begun at a new housing development, which will bring 34 homes to Chippenham.

The new houses, being built by property developers Greensquare, are at Middlefields, just off Hungerdown Lane.

The new set of 'affordable' homes will be available in early 2021 for rent and shared ownership.

Jo Curson, head of development at GreenSquare, said: “We are pleased to start construction on the new development at Middlefields, bringing a great range of high quality, and much-needed, affordable homes to the town.

“The properties will be a mixture of two and three-bedroom homes, and one and two-bedroom flats, catering for a range of lifestyles."

Richard Clewer, Wiltshire Council cabinet member for housing said: “Chippenham is an attractive place to live and work.

We need more affordable homes to keep a sense of community and ensure people can afford to live in this thriving corner of Wiltshire. "
