THE leader of the Lions of Chippenham has looked back ‘with great pleasure’ at a record fundraising year for the club.

Sue Gilbert, who took charge of the Lions in July 2018, has come to the end of her year as the Chippenham Lions President.

She said: “We aimed to have one fundraiser each month.

“Through events like the carol float, our cherished vehicle day, the auction of promises and Easter egg raffles we have been able to raise a record total of £40,000 this year.

“This money has been used to support a number of causes close to our hearts, our emphasis has always been on local causes and my own charities this year were Back on Track and The Rise Trust”.

She described the volunteer network as ‘a group of men and women who are committed to helping people in the community’.

Chippenham Lions start a new year of work in July under new president, Ian Gilbert, and are hoping to have an equally successful 12 months to look forward to.
