A DEVIZES girl threw punches at constables just days after she appeared before magistrates on a knifepoint robbery charge.

The 16-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was sentenced to a 12 month youth referral order by Salisbury magistrates on June 18 after admitting a raft of offences including robbing a woman of £7 in Devizes, threatening to burn down a Salisbury hairdressing salon with the owner inside and damaging an unmarked police car.

Two days later, she threw punches at two officers in Devizes and damaged two cars.

Appearing before Swindon Youth Court this week, the teen pleaded guilty to criminal damage and a charge of violent behaviour at a police station.

Magistrates adjourned the case to August 27 to allow time for a specialist psychiatric report to be written. Under her bail conditions she is banned from going to New Park Street, where Devizes police station is located.

The girl was joined in the courtroom by her father.
