A TRIO of creative students have had their work selected for the Royal Academy of Arts Young Artists’ Summer Show.

The students at St Mary's School in Calne are Jane Wu, and sisters Alice and Clara Wade.

The artworks feature a self portrait by Jane Wu, a video by Alice Wade entitled Mother Bird, and an image call Alien by her sister Clara.

Jane's painting shows her in her school uniform which said represented her identity as an international student studying in a UK boarding school.

Alice Wade's video was inspired she said by the pain that a mother passes onto her daughter, and more broadly about the unavoidable pain that comes with being a woman.

Clara said her mixed media painting was about how far the human figure could be contorted to create a foreign alien form whilst still eerily echoing parts of our own anatomy.

The pieces were judged by Royal Academicians and art experts and will be on display at the academy from July 13 to August 4.
