DEVIZES MP Claire Perry has defended minister Mark Field who pushed a climate change demonstrator at a private dinner on Thursday.

Mr Field has been suspended as a Foreign Office minister after grabbing the female Greenpeace activist at a black-tie City dinner.

The MP has apologised for confronting Janet Barker and marching her away as protesters interrupted a speech by Chancellor Philip Hammond.

Ms Barker suggested Mr Field "go to anger management classes" but said she did not intend to complain to police.

Mr Field said he had been "genuinely worried" she may have been armed.

But Ms Perry took to Twitter to defend Mr Field's reaction.

She said on Twitter: " I have been on the receiving end of extinction rebellion protests - intimidating and relentless. Multiple security guards protected me but incredible so little security last night. @MarkFieldUK was absolutely right to act as he did."
