FRIENDLY and docile, rescued greyhounds make wonderful and loyal pets said Ann Stanford from Melksham, who helped organise a mass dog walk for the breed in Chippenham last weekend as part of the Great Global Greyhound Walk event.

She said: "We had a total of 75 sight-hounds and other breeds which was a massive increase from last year when we had 48.

"We held a small raffle after the walk whilst enjoying delicious refreshments at the 10th Hole Tea Room in Monkton Park, Chippenham along with a collection for Evesham Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue Charity which raised £204.35.

"We were totally bowled over by the brilliant attendance this year and would like to thank everyone for joining us along with a massive thank you to our close greyhound friends who helped it run smoothly, it was truly appreciated.

"Also a big shout out to the 10th Hole Tea Room who were totally awesome in coping with the demand of all our greyhound loving friends."

The Great Global Greyhound Walk is an annual event that brings together greyhounds, lurchers, other sight-hounds and their owners to raise awareness of the breeds and show the public just what good pets they can make. Across the UK there were 125 walks organised involving more than 4,500 dogs.
