IT'S Father's Day on Sunday, so here are 10 ways to keep the dad in your household happy on the big day.

1 Jump aboard a steam train simulator, try out the interactive signal box and chat to former railway workers at Steam this weekend. The museum, which numbers the City of Truro, Caerphilly Castle and King George V among its attractions, is offering a dads and grandads go free event this weekend. 2 More than 100 cars from the 1920s onwards are on display at the Atwell Wilson Motor Museum at Calne. The exhibition features a reconstructed garage of the 1930s and one of the stars of the show is a gearless car designed by Sir Alec Issigonis. 3 Dads go free with paying sons or daughters at Swindon and Cricklade Railway on Sunday when the attraction is running a steam service. As well as working locomotives, the railway has a museum at Blunsdon Station along with a wartime museum. 4 Artefacts as big as a Challenger armoured repair and recovery vehicle and as small as the handful of beach sand caught in the uniform of Pt John Commander during the Dunkirk evacuation of 1940 are on show at the Reme Museum in Lyneham. The attraction at the gates of the former RAF base close to Royal Wootton Bassett houses more than 100,000 items, including vehicles, radios, modern day kit and trade test pieces. 5 Gloucester Old Spot piglets, golden Guernsey goats, exotic chickens and Dennis the turkey all live at Butts Farm Rare Breeds, South Cerney, along with a herd of Welsh Mountain ponies and Crumble the cow. The farm, which has a tearoom and shop, offers the opportunity to bottle feed lambs during the season, cuddle bunnies and take a trailer ride around the fields. It is open Tuesdays to Sundays. 6 Cotswold Water Park is on Swindon’s doorstep and offers a wide range of activities from birdwatching to windsurfing and waterskiing. The list includes the beach, kayaking, paddle boarding and sailing. Some of the lakes created by gravel extraction are now nature reserves where birds like lapwing, pochard, and reed buntings can be seen. 7 Just over an hour away by road, the Boscombe Down Aviation Collection at Old Sarum has a fascinating array of aircraft, cockpits, weapons and trials equipment. Among the pieces on display are a Sea Harrier, that served on HMS Hermes during the Falklands War, the cockpit of a Queens Flight aircraft and the nose of Comet C2 XK699, the former gate guard at RAF Lyneham. 8 For music and entertainment families can head up the A419 to Cricklade where the whole of the town centre plays host to a free festival. There is comedy, an appearance by the Dancing Grannies, live music and creative workshops along with stalls, a parade and fringe activities including displays from the fire brigade, a duck race and a chance to climb St Sampson’s church tower and enjoy a panoramic view over the town and surrounding countryside.
