A TOWN centre off-licence could be forced to close if a hearing of Swindon Borough Council’s licensing panel goes against it.
The owners of Victoria in 184 Victoria Street, have to face a review of the shop’s permission to sell alcohol to take away.
Members of the licensing panel will hear from police and trading standards officers who found a bag full of foreign cigarettes which are not legal to sell in the UK because they fall foul of packaging regulations.
The officers had gone to shop to see whether staff there had sold a known street drinker alcohol.
While CCTV did not clearly show that, one of the police officers said he was able to see that two men and a woman known to be street drinkers were served by staff, and the owner, Hekar Talabani, said they often caused trouble.
The licence review has been requested by Wiltshire Police and the panel will meet at 1pm on June 24
