Adults who care for young people with additional needs and who are approaching adulthood will be able to get advice and support at a special event next week.

Swindon Borough Council is hosting a Preparation for Adulthood Transitions Roadshow at the civic offices in Euclid Street next week, between noon and 5pm on Wednesday June 19.

About 40 stallholders provide information and advice about the services they offer for young people with additional needs to help them plan for their future including Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Service, Swindon Job Centre Plus and NatWest bank.

There will be five presentations as well as the opportunity for attendees to ask questions.

Councillor Mary Martin, the council’s cabinet member for children’s services, said: “Moving away from services for children and young people and into adult social care and adult health services, and from school into college or work, can often be daunting for all those involved. However, there are many services in Swindon which support individuals through this transition, and many of these will be on-hand at the Roadshow to offer advice and answer any questions.”
