SCHOOL leaders approved a £20k spend on rebranding and changing the name of John Bentley School in Calne.

Following a Freedom of Information request, it was revealed that new school signage set the school back £8500, a new website design £3750 and new lanyards and high vis jackets cost £1360.

The school, that was rated ‘requires improvement’ by Ofsted, will be renamed Kingsbury Green Academy as it joins the Royal Wootton Bassett Academies Trust from the new school year in September. A consultant has been used as part of the changes, which principle Jason described as “exceptional value.”

The cost new uniform is estimated to be in excess of £19k, however the school will not pass the cost on to parents. Speaking as part of the FOI, Mr Tudor said: “Katie currently provides some design guidance for RWBAT and it therefore made sense for us to use her due to Trust continuity and also the fact that she is outstanding value. It is impossible to include the cost of uniform as we invited local businesses to sponsor this purchase."

Mr Tudor added: “We feel that Kingsbury Green Academy has its roots firmly in the fabric of Calne whilst also being a name that we can all be proud to represent as we move forwards into an exciting future.”
