A man who had been accused of assaulting his partner in Clench Common has had the charges against him dropped.
Joseph Perry had been said to have stamped on the woman’s stomach during an alleged incident in a caravan last summer.
Now prosecutors have offered no evidence against the 27-year-old Avebury man when he appeared before Swindon Crown Court.
But Judge Jason Taylor QC imposed a two year restraining order banning Perry from contacting his ex, pointing out it was to protect both of them and did not imply blame.
Nic Gerasimidis, for the Crown, said the complainant had made it clear that she would not longer co-operate with the prosecution.
He said “There has been at the very least a very significant exaggeration of any contact. So the case was being discontinued.
