CRICKETERS have bowled over a nursery for children with special needs by presenting it with a cheque for £1,700.
Bishops Cannings Cricket Club has been a major supporter of Devizes Opportunity Centre and this time chairman Ed Davies made a visit to hand over money raised at the club’s annual Sportsman’s Dinner.
The event at Dauntsey’s School, West Lavington, near Devizes always attracts hundreds of guests to listed to speakers from the world of sport.
This year former England cricketer turned broadcaster Chris Cowdrey was joined by celebrated rugby referee Wayne Barnes.
Devizes Round Table ran the beer bar which generated the cash for the opportunity centre and Round Tabler Alex Glover was at the Devizes nursery to help with the presentation.
Mr Davies has already started planning for next year’s dinner which will be its 30th and he promises it will be one not to miss.
