MARLBOROUGH will mark D-Day today (Thursday) with a commemoration at 3.30pm on the Common.
A wreath will be laid at the commemorative stone which marks the place where, during the Second World War, there was a major American army hospital – the 347th Hospital Station. The Royal British Legion and the mayor, Cllr Mervyn Hall will be there.
After D-Day the hospital received air-evacuated casualties direct from the continent. The short ceremony near the steps on the eastern edge of Marlborough Common.
