AN ambitious project to recreate the station and goods yard in Great Bedwyn as it appeared in the early 1960s before the closure of the line to Marlborough has been completed by the village's model railway club.
Sonny Hamid of the Burbage and District Model Railway Club said: "We started some seven months ago by seeking and researching old photographs, drawings and sketches which we could follow to reproduce miniature buildings, the track arrangement, road vehicles and scenery as it had existed at the time.
"The main road bridge over the tracks was hand carved from a single piece of wood and brick paper applied to the two sides.
"Modelling the River Dun to the south of the station was a great challenge and necessitated the procurement of specialist material which, when solidified would appear as flowing water."
Partners of the members helped with painting the barges on the canal while members laid our the 16ft long exhibit which will be on display in St Mary's parish church at the end of May .
