EMERALDS Boxing Club in Chippenham have trained two female boxers who have had the England call up this month.
Katie Doig,13, and Eloise Edwards,14, both from the town entered the National School Championships, earning silver medals and have now been selected to represent England in the Three Nations championship on June 8-9, in Barnsley.
Katie said: "I think girls should embrace boxing because it's a sport that shows people that girls can do anything boys do and nothing else teaches you the discipline, respect and fitness that will prepare you both mentally and physically to meet any challenge that lies ahead."
Eloise said: "Boxing is a sport that I enjoy as it's like a sense of freedom from everyday studying and being a teenager, it helps mentally with any stresses and pressure that come with growing up and it gives me a healthy clear mind."
Coach Liam Lathbury said the girls deserved praise for the achievement.
