A KNIFE amnesty due to have been held at a Devizes church on Wednesday has been postponed over health and safety concerns.
St James Church was to hold the amnesty in conjunction with Wiltshire Police but publicity leaflets printed mentioned a weapons amnesty and fears were raised that guns may have been brought to the church along with knives.
Church outreach leader Rob Jackson said: "I am disappointed this can't go-ahead next week but it is only a postponement. We will learn lessons from this.
"It was a mistake on our part and led to health and safety worries as we were only covered for knives."
