People all parts of Devizes are reporting power cuts this morning.
Problems have been experienced from Hopton Industrial Estate out to the villages of Rowde and Potterne.
On social media a number of people said that after a short time without electricity the power had returned but others are still experiencing problems.
A spokesman for Energy supplier SSE said said the power cut started at 8.10am this morning and was caused by damaged cables.
Engineers are on site in the town and supply is being restored in phases.
The spokesman said: "At the moment there are still about 900 people without power. We expect everyone to be back on by 11.30am.
"At this stage we do not know what caused the damage. We apologise for the inconvenience to anyone affected. Our engineers were on site very quickly."
