MUSIC lovers in search of a pint of cider and a laidback vibe had a hoot of time at Owlfest on Saturday.

The festival run by the Owl in Bromham at the recreation ground was in its second year after a merger of the village's cider festival and the old Bromfest.

The day is all about the vibe and the music by talented acts that performed throughout the day was washed down with an array of ten local ciders.

These included Black Rat's Dark Fruits, Cheddar Valley, Lilly’s Cheeky Pig, Dog Dancer from Gwynt Y Ddraig, Sanford Orchards, Purpeck and Harry’s.

A day like this could not be complete without a barbecue and there were plenty of takers for the food.

One of the first on stage was Jamie R Hawkins whoplayed some sentimental originals along with covers including his new single Welcome to the Family in honour of his young daughter.

He couldn't stay in Bromham too long as he had to appear at Devizes Long Street Blues Club and he gave way to Westbury singer Kirsty Clinch.

Corky wearing his trademark Tweed suite and flat cap who performs his own adaptations of hip hop anthems in a West Country style.

Many of the crowd had been waiting for the performance of George Wilding. He did not disappoint with his lively renditions of covers from the likes of the Arctic Monkeys' Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor and took a number of requests.

Darren Worrow a supporter of the local music scene said: "OwlFest really is a promising and brilliantly staged event for any village, and residents, organisers and all should be proud of what they’ve achieved."

Organiser Adam Dempsey was delighted with the big turn out for the event which was much larger than for last year's festival.

The Owl has regular music nights and future events include Larkin on June 29, Drew Bryant on July 27, People Like Us on August 10, the Gentle Crows on September 28 and those Truzzy Boys on October 26.
