POLICE are appealing for information after a hit and run accident which happened in a village near Marlborough yesterday.

The incident happened at the cross junction of Berry Cottages and Home Farm Road, Mildenhall, at about 10:40 am when a silver/grey saloon car hit a pedestrian and failed to stop and exchange details or check the welfare of the injured man.

A police spokesman said: "The details of the vehicle and driver are unknown at this stage, but it is suspected that the driver’s side wing mirror has sustained damage following contact with the pedestrian.

"The man aged in his 50's suffered a suspected fractured ankle and was later taken to Great Western Hospital, Swindon, for further treatment."

Officers are conducting enquiries and are requesting the public’s assistance to help determine the full details of the incident.
