A SCHOOL near Devizes, which is part of a Wiltshire Council review into the future of special education in the county, has just been awarded gold accreditation for its outdoor learning.

Rowdeford along with St Nicholas in Chippenham and Larkrise in Trowbridge are under review amid plans to amalgamate the schools on the Rowdeford site.

Rowdeford head Mike Loveridge is delighted that its outdoor activities have been recognised by the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom and it has got its gold accreditation.

He said: "Being awarded LOtC Mark (Gold) is a real achievement for all the staff and governors here as it shows that we are working hard to provide our pupils with potentially life-changing opportunities.

"We're thrilled to get official recognition for our efforts and we look forward to building on this award to continue to develop our LOtC provision and contribute to the promotion of the many benefits of taking teaching and learning outside of the classroom walls.

"Our Outdoor Learning Coordinator, John Craze and his team have worked extremely hard to achieve this award.”
