GLAMPING pods have been refused planning permission in West Lavington.

Attempts to set up six permanent wooden pods and four shepherds huts for visitors to camp in. However West Lavington Parish Council objected to the development and raised concerns about security of the site as well as the potential for large groups of people to visit the site and cause “disturbances” to the community.

10 residents wrote to the council outlining their concerns and although highways did not object, conservation officers lodged an objection.

Wiltshire Council officers said: “The extent of the site is clearly visible from surrounding public vantage points and from the nearby residential properties.” It is considered that the proposed development would create an incongruent and alien feature within this landscape to the detriment of the character of the area.”
