A motorcyclist has been airlifted to hospital following a serious accident on the A4 London Road at Chippenham this morning.
The crash involved a silver BMW and a motorcycle and happened near the Lysley Arms at the junction of the A4 with the A342 at Old Derry Hill.
Paramedics were quickly on the scene. It is not yet known how seriously the motorcyclist was injured.
A South Western Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called at 7.33am to attend an incident involving a car and a motorbike on Old Derry Hill, Calne.
“We sent various resources to the scene including a land ambulance and an air ambulance. A male patient was conveyed to hospital by air ambulance.”
The road was closed while the motorcyclist was being treated.
Queuing traffic caused congestion to Middle Lodge heading east and westbound traffic back to Studley. The crash also affected traffic from Derry Hill to Sandy Lane.
