A TEENAGER was hit over the head with a martial arts weapon at a West Swindon beauty spot.
Now, police want to speak to a member of the public who intervened to stop the attack.
Officers said a boy 16, was said by police to have been attacked with Nunchucks, a type of Japanese weapon made from two metal poles connected by a chain - by the lake at Lydiard Park on Monday, April 22 at around 4.20pm.
He received treatment at the Great Western Hospital for a head wound.
A 17-year-old local boy has been arrested on suspicion of assault and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. The boy, who is known to the victim, has been released on conditional bail.
Police say they want to hear from the Lydiard Park visitor who broke up the scrapping boys.
PC Craig Beales said: “When the incident happened, a member of the public stepped in and broke the two up so I am keen to speak to this person to obtain a statement.”
Anyone with information should call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
