YOUNGSTERS in a hospital children's ward were given something to smile about when funeral director Ashley McDonald paid a visit carrying more than 500 Easter eggs.

Mr McDonald who runs AP McDonald funeral directors in Devizes was laden down with gifts thanks to people from the town who made donations over the past few weeks.

The sweet treats were handed over to children at Swindon's Great Western Hospital as part of its Brighter Futures GWH appeal.

Mr McDonald said: "Over 500 eggs and sweet treats were handed over to bring a smile to children’s faces

"The community has out done it self, and a massive thank you to all of the businesses and people who helped and donated. There are so many great people around."

Accountants Charlton Baker from Snuff Street, Devizes were also doing their bit to a smile on the faces of other business people in the town by holding an Easter competition.

Digital marketing executive Lauren Williams organised the contest and it was won by Oksana Hodiuka who works at First Class Hair in Devizes.

Ms Williams said: "she was very overwhelmed and happy. We are continuing to do seasonal campaigns to bring the community together and make them happy."
