AS the campaign to save St Nicholas' Special School in Chippenham continues, the community is rallying round to show their support for the school and its families.

On Saturday the landlady of the Lysley Arms pub on London Road, Karen Brewster, is holding a family fun day from 1.30pm to raise awareness of the school and the bid to save it, as well as raise funds to help the fight.

"It's a lovely thing for them to do, she has been so helpful and keen to do something to make everyone aware that although Wiltshire Council have re-opened the consultation into the future of St Nicholas' and other specials schools, the fight is not over," explained Alison Lenton-Jinks.

"We pub has a lovely garden for families to play in, we will be having a barbecue, face painting and a bouncy castle. We've invited Chippenham's MP Michelle Donelan to come and meet families and Nick Blackwell, the former top boxer from Trowbridge, will also be there because he is supporting the campaign to save St Nicholas and Larkrise schools."

All are welcome, especially families with special needs children or those whose children have attended either school in the past.
