FORMER St John’s schoolgirl Anastasia Quinton-Smith will be glued to her TV with millions of others on Saturday evening when the final of popular BBC TV show Altogether Now is aired.

But unlike the others Miss Quinton-Smith, 26, who grew up in Great Bedwyn, near Marlborough, already knows the result as she is one of the singers taking part and it was filmed back in September.

She said: “I can’t say what happened. But I was very chuffed with how it went.”

The show hosted by Rob Beckett and former Spice Girl Geri Horner allows singers of all types to show off their talent to 100 music industry experts. If they stand up during the song it counts as a point for the artist.

In the semi-final she sang The Power Of Love and on Saturday she will sing U2’s With Or Without You.

She watched the semi-final in London with family and friends. She said: “It was a great evening. Even though I knew what was going to happen it was good to watch it. We all laughed a lot and people were very supportive.

“Back in September when it was filmed it was an incredible feeling to know I had made the final.”

She has made a lot of new friends among the other contestants and have formed a What’s App group. She s aid: “ They are an unreal group of people, and it’s actually mad to think if I hadn’t made the final I wouldn’t have met them. Some of us will be friends forever.”

Miss Quinton-Smith is one of five children and they along with her father Simon and mother Caroline are very supportive. She said: “None of the others are musical but they back me all the way.”

She left St John’s part way through the sixth form and studied musical theatre in London. After graduating aged 19 she worked on cruise ships and has had parts in a number of shows.

But she is hoping Altogether Now will be her big break.
