RUNNER James Rosenegk will fulfill a dream when he takes part in this year's London Marathon to raise money for a charity that helps the blind and partially sighted.

Mr Rosenegk, 53, who is part new running club Devizes FIT, will be running for Vision West of England.

He said: "I’ve been a runner for many years, training weekly and taking part in primarily 10k races and half marathons. It’s been my desire for many years to run the London Marathon and have applied and been unsuccessful in the ballot multiple times.

"At the end of last year, after another unsuccessful ballot, I decided that enough was enough and it was time to run THE Race

" I started looking at various charities to run for, having raised funds in the past for Dorothy House and the Stroke Association.

"A friend mentioned that Vision West of England had a place available and that’s how this particular journey began. I felt strongly that running for this charity would support a cause that is making a real difference to local people."

Mr Rosenegk, who is married with four children, runs four times a week and also goes out on his bike. He hopes to complete the marathon on April 28 in three hours 30 minutes.

Other members of Devizes FIT, who are just starting out on their running careers, have gone from couch to 5K in just a matter of weeks and completed their challenge at the Southwick Park run.

Coach Damion Godwin said: "Devizes FIT have now welcomed the beginners group in to the group where we will continue their journey.

"This works really well with the sweep runner that stays at the back for the entire run and also having the lead runners loop back to the sweep runner this keeps the group together and know is left behind."

Devizes FIT is starting another beginners group on May 6 at a cost of £25 for ten weeks. The fee also includes membership to the main club at the end of the ten weeks. They will meet on Mondays at 6pm and Saturdays at 3pm outside Devizes Treatment Centre in Marshall Road.
