VISITS to France could become more frequent for Marlborough residents, after the town council proposed twinning with a village in the North West of France.
Speaking during Tuesday’s Town Council meeting, councillors agreed to set up a working party to look into twinning with St Denis d'Anjou.
Cllr Guy Loosemore said: “It will not need much investment especially now it would be good to foster relationships and reach out with European open arms . It has tremendous heart and can do attitude. It is a superb area.”
Mayor Lisa Farrell added: “Having somewhere nearer to us will make it easier for our school children to visit this. I know the Scouts spend a lot of time trying to raise money to go to more exotic places and it's hard work."
Cllr Harry Forbes added: “It is a superb opportunity. Twinning with a racing town and twinning with other places is not exclusive. We've been approached by this village, we should take opportunity open arms and view this very positively.”
