MASSIVE delays are expected around Marlborough as the A4 is closed for resurfacing work from Monday, April 1 in the evenings.
The closure of the main London to Bristol trunk road at Savernake will see traffic diverted south of the town as work continues for the rest of the month from 7pm to midnight
Wiltshire Highways say the A4 London Road in Marlborough will close to all traffic (except pedestrians) from its junction with Elcot Lane for a distance of approximately 1,242 metres in a easterly direction.
It is to allow carriageway reconstruction and associated maintenance works with an alternative route of alternative route of the A338 – A346 and vice versa.
The closure will last until May 3, causing huge problems for motorists, shoppers and public transport in the area.
Wiltshire say that access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works.
