DRESS down Fridays, bake and cake sales in the office and pub quizzes have all added up to raise £1,000 for the British Heart Foundation in Chippenham.

Staff at the town's Job Centre Plus offices presented a cheque to Nick Harding of the charity yesterday (Wednesday) at a brief ceremony at the centre.

"Heart disease affects staff and customer’s alike," said Helen Pearce of the Job Centre, "We have worked closely with our local British Heart Foundation shop in Chippenham for many years and see the good work that they do. the whole office was involved in the fund raising efforts which involved lots of different activities."

Nick Harding of the charity said they were very grateful for the funds which would help to with their work with cardiovascular research, education, and care.

Chippenham has a British Heart Foundation shop on the High Street and a furniture store on New Road. The British Heart Foundation was founded in 1961 by a group of medical professionals to combat an increase in cardiovascular disease.
