WILTSHIRE Trading Standards say they have had multiple reports of sheep carcases being dumped in the Marlborough area.

A spokesperson said: “Following the discovery of five sheep carcasses on the outskirts of Savernake Forest and one lamb carcase near Crooked Soley, the carcasses have now been removed and correctly disposed of.

“Illegal dumping of livestock carcases or by-products, not only results in costs to landowners but also risks the spread of disease and could have serious consequences to neighbouring livestock keepers."

They said those responsible face fines and prison sentences.
