THE Mayor of Chippenham Cllr Andy Phillips will open the South West in Bloom Spring Seminar to be held at the Neeld Community and Arts Centre today (February 28).

Chippenham Town Council will be receiving the news on their entries into the Pride in Parks award, as both John Coles Park and Stanley Park Sports Ground have been entered. Expectations are high as last year the town received a gold award in the Town Centre category, supported by local yarn bombers decorating the Town Bridge and local businesses decorating their shop windows.

Cllr Phillips said: “We are so proud to be hosting this event in Chippenham. These awards are a brilliant way to get communities together to make a positive change in their local areas.”

South West in Bloom is one of eighteen regional competitions that makes up Britain in Bloom.

The aim of the community groups that take part each year is to improve and regenerate local environments and neighbourhoods. This can be through the imaginative planting of trees, shrubs, flowers and landscaping, conservation and recycling projects.
