AN alternative to supermarkets has opened in Pewsey on the industrial trading estate on Salisbury Road above a pet food store.

The Good Food Garage is the brain child of Vicky Marshall who owns the pet food shop as well.

"We're not a fancy pants farm store," she said, "but good food at low prices."

She said everything in the shop is from sustainable sources produced by local businesses where possible in line with her desire to avoid food from intensive farms and non organic producers.

Ingredients for breakfast, lunch and supper are on sale meaning a family can do an entire shop for the week.

It includes cereals, bread, spreads, dairy products, eggs and home-sausages. Scotch eggs are made locally while there are nuts, pulses and vegetable oil on the shelves along with cakes.

The shop has a manager in Dan Archer who said it had been a soft opening after Christmas but was now getting very busy.
